Are You Cleaning Your Teeth in the Right Order? You Might Be Surprised.

Most people think they know how to properly care for their teeth—but the order in which you do it can make a big difference.

Step 1: Floss First

Flossing should always come first. It helps remove bacteria and food debris from between the teeth, which then allows your toothpaste to reach those areas more effectively during brushing.

Step 2: Mouthwash (Optional)

While not everyone needs it, if you do use mouthwash, it should come after flossing but before brushing.
Why? Because it helps to flush out any remaining debris that the floss has loosened, prepping your mouth for the final step.

Note: The speaker isn’t a big fan of mouthwash, but acknowledges its occasional use when needed.

Step 3: Brush Last

Now it’s time to brush. Use a hydroxyapatite toothpaste—a great alternative to fluoride—that is oral microbiome-friendly. This helps to keep your smile healthy and white, while supporting your mouth’s natural defenses.

Share this tip with your friends and family and see who’s actually doing it in the right order! You might be surprised.
